Hi, I'm Edi

I started Ten Magpies because I kept finding stories that were too good not to share: a pumpkin as heavy as a small car, cats that share hormones with their owners, a mafia boss caught outside his prison. So I made a small home for them at tenmagpies.com, under Ten Magpies Media.

The idea is simple. Stories that are fun to read and worth knowing, told in plain words, in English and in Romanian. No shouting, no fake drama, just the shiny bits, the way magpies like them.

Ten sections

The site has ten sections, one for each magpie: Games, Gossip, Financial, Science, AI, Health & Food, Tech & Engineering, Animals & Nature, Crime, Kids & Family.

How a story gets here

Sources first. Every story lists its sources at the bottom, with links, so you can check every number yourself.

I say yes, or it doesn't go live. AI tools help with research and first drafts. Then a human takes over, and that human is me.

What I do myself, on every story

I read the whole story before it goes up.
I open the sources and check the numbers against them.
I approve it, or it waits. If a story doesn't check out, it doesn't go up.
I fix mistakes when you write to me.

AI is a helper here, like a very fast intern. The decisions and the responsibility are mine.

Pictures. We use real photos with free licences or in the public domain (for example from Unsplash and NASA), always credited with their source and licence. When an image is made with AI, the caption says so: “Illustration made with AI”.

Behind this site there is a person, not a bot, and you can write to me. A question about a story, an idea for one, something that made you laugh, something you think I got wrong. Write to and start with “Ask Edi”. I read these myself.

Mistakes

I get things wrong sometimes, like everyone. If you spot a mistake, write to me at and I'll fix it on the page.
