Halloween is the one night a year when celebrities get to be someone else on purpose. And this year, many of them chose to be... other celebrities. We're not handing out prizes. We're just telling you who went as whom, and why people are talking about it.
Kim Kardashian went as North West
The most talked-about choice came from inside the family. Kim Kardashian dressed up as her eldest daughter, North West, with blue hair, fake piercings and long nails, according to W Magazine, The Zoe Report and Hola. Let's be honest: every parent has secretly wanted to borrow their teenager's look for one night. Kim just did it with a glam team.
Lisa Rinna became Kylie Jenner
Lisa Rinna, the actress and reality TV star, dressed as Kylie Jenner in Kylie's orange Chrome Hearts outfit. The Zoe Report said she "just won Halloween". The fun twist, reported by ABC News: Michael Gelman, executive producer of the morning show Live with Kelly and Mark, joined her dressed as Timothée Chalamet, Kylie's boyfriend. W Magazine, ABC and Hola all featured the look.

Keke Palmer and her son did "Scream"
The sweetest one. Actress Keke Palmer and her son Leo dressed as Janet and Michael Jackson, a tribute to the 1995 music video for "Scream", according to ABC News, W Magazine and The Zoe Report. That video famously has the siblings in black and white, floating in a spaceship. A small boy doing that with full seriousness is exactly what the internet needed.
Paris Hilton couldn't pick just one
Paris Hilton went for several looks. W Magazine and The Zoe Report say she dressed as Britney Spears with a python, a nod to Britney's famous 2001 awards performance. W also reports a Beauty and the Beast family moment, with Paris as Belle and her toddlers as Chip and Lumière. Hola adds a Morticia Addams look, and ABC confirms the family did both Beauty and the Beast and The Addams Family themes.
We do have one rule at Ten Magpies: if the costume comes with a real snake, we admire it from a distance.
A mermaid on breakfast TV
Model Ashley Graham turned into Ariel from The Little Mermaid and lip-synced "Part of Your World", according to ABC News. Meanwhile, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos changed costumes several times on their show's Halloween episode on 30 October, including characters from Toy Story and Spider-Man and a Lady Gaga-inspired look.
And a few more
Comedian Benito Skinner and Owen Thiele went as singers PinkPantheress and Zara Larsson from their "Stateside" video (W, The Zoe Report). Singer Chlöe Bailey became "Hot Meg" from Family Guy. Gabbriette and Quenlin Blackwell recreated characters from the Scary Movie films, with a mini movie to match.
Hola spotted TV host Carson Daly as country singer Ella Langley, Joseph Baena, Arnold Schwarzenegger's son, as Austin Powers, and footballer Trinity Rodman as a mermaid with turquoise contact lenses.
The trend: dress as someone real
Look at the list again. Kylie, North, Britney, Janet and Michael, Ella Langley. Fewer witches and vampires, more real people. Halloween costumes have turned into a game of "who can recognise me", made for photos and videos.
For the rest of us, it's good news: you don't need a budget. A wig, one famous outfit and a bit of confidence, and you're someone else for a night. Just maybe skip the python.
Note: these roundups were still being updated as we wrote, so more looks may appear.
