Some people buy a game for the story. Some for the cars. And some, apparently, for the vinyl.
Two albums, one game
GTA 6: The Album comes out on November 19, alongside the game. It has 34 tracks, and the guest list reads like a festival poster that lost a bet: Travis Scott, Keith Richards, Morgan Wallen, Rauw Alejandro, PinkPantheress and Yung Lean. Rockstar calls it "a genre-defying roster of the most exciting artists in the world". A Rolling Stone and a country star on the same tracklist. Only in Vice City.
Then on December 11 comes Grand Theft Auto VI: Original Score by Justice. That's the music behind the action, made by the French electronic duo Justice, the people behind "D.A.N.C.E.". It has 30 tracks, plus digital bonus tracks.
Pick your format
The score comes on streaming, as a two-disc CD, as a three-record vinyl set, and as a limited "crystal clear" three-record vinyl. Pre-orders are open now. If you can't wait, one track, "Pusher" with Gesaffelstein, is already out.
Why it matters
GTA radio stations have been part of the fun since the 1990s. Half the players sit in a stolen car just to finish the song. Now the music has a life outside the game too, from your headphones to your record player.
So on November 19, expect two kinds of people: the ones racing through missions, and the ones parked on the beach with the radio up.
